Bustique, supporting you beautifully

BUSTIQUE SIZING STRUCTURE - LINGERIE

It is a fact that 70% of women are still wearing the wrong size bra.

After talking to scores of customers we concluded that not only has fitting advice been poor, but more commonly, women very rarely take a good look at how effective their bra is in supporting and shaping their bust. We recommend that you regularly review the fit and the shape it gives you in order to help you decide whether to alter the size of your bra to accommodate any change in breast shape and size.

A good fitting bra makes the world of difference to how comfortable it feels and how good your shape looks.

We believe that the best judge of how well your bra is fitting is you because only you know how the bra feels and only you know what shape looks best on you. It is therefore important that you know what to look out for when trying on a new bra.

As a quick general rule of thumb we have found that the band size should correspond roughly to your dress size. Of course there are always the exceptions to the rule with differences in shoulder widths, back sizes and body shapes and so on, but its worth bearing the quick size guide in mind.

QUICK GUIDE TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZED BRA

        Dress Size                 Band Size
8 28 - 30
10 30 - 32
12 32 - 34
14 34 - 36
16 36 - 38

The most common mistake in choosing a bra is that we tend to go for bras that are too large in the band size and too small in the cup. We have often met customers who have been wearing a size 36c for many years with the back strap riding up and the bra giving no support at all. After following our sizing guide they have found their correct size to be a 32DD or even an E!

Things to look out for when trying on a new bra

  • The band should fit firmly and snugly around the body underneath the breasts acting as the foundation of the support.

  • Bend forward as you lift the bra into position and let your breasts fall into the cups so that they are completely filling the cups then tighten the shoulder straps if necessary.

  • Any underwires should enclircle and not touch the breast tissue. (If the wires do not lie flat, especially in the middle at the base of the cleavage, the cup size may be too small).

  • The cups should cradle the boobs so that there is a smooth silhouette. There should be no spilling over or ridges even when wearing a balconette or plunge style. Always try a smooth t-shirt over the top to ensure there are no bumps or unslghtly lines.

  • It is the style of bra that determines the shape it gives you. E.g. full cup, balconette, plunge, soft cup, sports bra and the 3/4 cup is particularly effective in giving an attractive, young and natural shape.

  • When trying on a new bra always start on the loosest hook so that you can later tighten the strap as the bra starts to loosen with wear.

BUSTIQUE SIZING STRUCTURE - FASHION

We all know that fashion is generally designed for the waif-like model with very few curves. Bustique clothes are different as they are designed with the Bustique woman in mind. Our aim is to deliver the latest fashion that fits beautifully and flatters all your best bits to make you look and feel fabulous.

This is why we have introduced a whole new sizing structure for our clothes. We have added sizes 1, 2 & 3 at the bust line so that within the usual 8 - 16 dress sizing range we have created 15 new size categories that fit different bust sizes without changing the shape and look of the garment. Therefore dress size 8 becomes 8/1, 8/2 and 8/3 and so on...

For an accurate guide to choosing your size use a tape measure and take the following measurements in this order:-

1. Your waist.

Stand straight and then bend slightly to the side. Where your body creases take the measurement around your body making sure that the tape is parallel. This measurement determines your dress size. E.g. if you measure 80cms around the waist you are a Bustique size 12.

2. Your bust.

Wearing a good supportive bra measure the fullest part of your bust to find out whether you are a 1, 2 or 3 within your dress size. E.g. if you have discovered that you are a Bustique size 12 and measure 103cms around your bust you are a Bustique size 12/3.

  Bust Measurement (cm)
